HELLO HELLO HELLO…is that the sound of an echo in here? It’s so dark and empty, I’m sure everyone left the party…and even remembered to turn out the lights! LOL….as I type on black, that is exactly what it feels like, speaking words into a dark room. So yes, I’m back…even though actually I never went anywhere! I have no excuse for not posting, although I could say we have been so super busy, that clients took front seat, blog took back….or that we have been training, since this is our down season before weddings start again….and that next week I’ll be away training with three fabulous lighting and Art Image makers from the States….three top in the field (think photographer’s who shot the Twilight movie posters, Jonas Brothers, Movie Star weddings, etc). We are very very excited to be bringing a whole new look to our work…and specifically targeted this training workshop to do just that. I hope the weather in Australia stays fine for it!
So with that in mind, I’m rushing to get client orders out of here by Monday….if you haven’t received your order by then, it will be because it has not been completed at the Framer’s or the Canvas Specializes…..so please just be patient and I’ll deliver them on Monday 10th August when I’m back.

LOVE IT. Funny how it has had that many hits…just goes to show that people really do love it when they see something unique, fun, crazy or different. With that in mind…if you are planning on doing something really unique for your weddings (okay people, that does not include releasing doves, lighting candles, kissing parents in the middle of your vows or anything like that….whilst all those things are fantastic…that is not the kind of crazy unique we are talking about here!), then let us know and we’ll give you $200 off any of our packages! …and remember unique can be classy! and in fact we would prefer it to be! (Offer applies to newly booked weddings and sorry it needs to be on a date we have free…which means you probably need to be a 2010/11 Bride or Winter / Location wedding 2010, since nearly all our dates for the next wedding season are full).

I recently bought some amazing frames from my friend Danielle Thompson….and they arrived a few days ago. The quality of vinyl is amazing and whilst I have NO idea what I will do with them *yet*, I seriously heart them! Check them out for yourself…..the shipping was so reasonable! I can see them on our wall with photos being changed out via a bulldog clip at the top…..will post pics as soon as I have finished what I have in mind.
The are really big in real life and I got mine in red…surprise surprise!!!
Of course this wouldn’t be a blog post without pictures! So whilst I have numerous newborn, maternity, family and children sessions I could share….as well as an amazing Engagement session we did in Downtown Urban Christchurch (which I’ll post early next week)….I’ve actually posted photos of my kids throughout.
So why am I sharing them? Will because I was actually really embarrassed when I posted the photos on Beyond (the Photographer’s Forum that I administer/own) and so many people commented that in the last three years they had not seen my kids OR that they didn’t even know I had any, let alone FOUR!…..hmmmmmmmmmm. You know how if you marry a mechanic you never get your car fixed? well I think the same applies to Photographer’s…we never photograph ourselves or our families! So a couple of weekends ago I decided to combine studio work with natural light and capture my own children for a change. Also Erick headed back to Hawaii for a couple of family funerals; very sad that two people so close to him should pass away so close together…….however it was a great opportunity for him to see all his family in one place at the same time AND take albums of the children home with him.
They all seem so mature when I see them like this. It was a good reminder to me of how my clients feel the first time they see their slideshow or their prints/albums…that overwhelming feeling that these are images are so priceless, that they will endure through generations, and as anyone that has had custom portraiture done knows…..these are works of art that our children’s children will use to compare “noses, lips, etc” with when their children are born. You know we have all done that!!!
Nothing like a few out-takes! Like the bear that Keone has had since he was 5 months old…with no fur left on his body or his nose….doing the killer attack from behind!~ …and our cool new chair that is being recovered in hot red for the upcoming wedding season – can’t wait!

Model Call: If you are over 17 and would like to do some modelling for us (guys and girls!~), then we’d love to hear from you. We are specifically looking for 17 to 20 year olds…we need 5 and would like at least one male, so bring a boyfriend! …and you receive the session, a free wall print and three digital negatives of your choice. All Sessions require a full model release to be signed…..under 18 year olds must have parent sign as well. Please contact the studio via the tab above, and you will then be asked for details as well as photo. If your reading this blog and know of someone, be sure to hook them up! I know it’s cold-ish at night right now…..so I also need to advise you that these will be most likely be evening shoots and require full make-up which will be done by our Artist….no charge to you.
