Little Cutie! | Christchurch Newborn Photography

HMT-14web

What a little sweetheart this baby was!  …and wow look at all that hair!  It was such a joy and pleasure to photograph this family as not only did they  not speak very good english (and I speak it too fast! LOL) but they had never had any form of professional photography done before either.

The love they had for this new little addition to their lives was obvious and no wonder!  He really was an angel!  Four weeks old and slept like a dream…..possibly thanks to a few tricks that I  have up my sleeve! (as mom said he never sleeps during the day!) but he was so placid and alert.  I love it when I send a Gallery to a client, then wait with baited breath to see what their response will be; will they cry, laugh, ring me, email me…and so many times I’ve regretted that I haven’t been there for that pivotal moment in their lives, when they get to see the emotion, love and connection that only a camera and amazing light can capture.

So it was wonderful when the phone rang, and I immediately recognised the voice (okay it’s not everyday I get calls from clients who struggle with the funny language we call English!…so recognising this client didn’t really require much brain power!), but it was the sound of joy in her voice that is conveyed no matter what language we speak, that really hit my heart.

Thank you wonderful family, for letting me be the first photographer to be allowed the privilege of showing you how beautiful professional photography can be!    Can’t wait to see your little miracle grow!

In other news…………DOWNUNDER 2010 ……….. yes Beyond Just Images is running another Conference, but this time we are having it in Sydney, Australia!   At the beginning of this year we ran one in Phoenix, Arizona, but many of our colleagues were unable to make it to that one….so in November 2010, we are giving you all the opportunity to learn from some of the industry’s finest Pro Photographer’s……….the Bebb’s and Tricoast.   All details can be found on the Beyond Blog.

Spaces are limited, and at the present time, we are not 100% sure that we will be repeating this Seminar in NZ….possibly the team from Tricoast may be teaching in Auckland, but confirmation of that will not come until next year.  So don’t miss out on one of the now only 20 seats left!

Email me if you need further details!

We have other, personal, exciting news coming soon too!  ……………no it is NOT another baby!  (don’t even think that!) LOL….and the sneak peeks from Decadence will be on the Blog over the next few days too!  Lots happening, including the start of our wedding season!

Have a great L-O-N-G weekend!  We are going to be meeting with clients, sanding, painting and wallpapering…told you we had exciting news!

What is this?  Well it means that we New Zealand Institute of Professional Photographer’s qualified to shoot your wedding.  Now we always knew we were “qualified to shoot” weddings…as we have worked hard, invested time, energy and money in learning, perfecting and pushing our craft….so we felt confident and excited to step out the door to each wedding we book but to be recognised by our peers (multi-award winning photographer’s who have seen numerous applications from other Pro Photogs!!!)…..was a real delight!

We were thrilled to be told that our submission not only passed but was really liked by several of the panel.  We don’t normally enter awards or submit for qualifications, but we think with wedding photography it is important for couples to invest money in photographer’s that have a recognised organisation behind them…..after all it is a lot of money, and only one day to get it right.  So we didn’t do this so much for us, we did it for our clients….both current and future….to give you reassurance that you have booked the best! LOL…

BrideNZIPP CoupleNZIPP

…and now it really is going to sound like we are bragging or something! but if you know us, you’ll know that we aren’t…we simply LOVE what we do, we love couples IN LOVE!   It is a magical wonderful exciting time in their lives and for us, to be allowed to not only be a part of it, but be given the privilege to photograph it, well that never ceases to blow us away!  So we also entered (at the last minute) the NZIPP Iris Awards…we put in two prints, and both won an Award!  Bronze for both.

Okay I’m just going to be honest here and say that we were gutted to only get bronze…remember how that felt in school when you came third over the finish line, or the other kid got the cup and you just got a certificate?  so yes, I did feel disappointed because I knew how hard it was to get these two images; on the worst weather day Christchurch had seen in 20 years…..but then I heard how many prints were entered, how few actually won anything, and how this year’s award judging was harder than any other year, and that the overseas judges commented on how “hard” our judging was…….so yep, I finally “got it” and realised that to enter only two prints and have both win something (anything!) was amazing for our first year of submitting.  I finally cracked open the bottle of wine!

There is another reason for the wine cork flying, but I can’t reveal that until next week, so stay tuned!!!  In the meantime, enjoy some wonderful clients from recent sessions…..
